Visual Model

Remove the guesswork from teaching tricky tongue and lip placements with clear visual models

DARA® makes it easier for SLPs to teach even the trickiest speech sounds by showing exactly how the tongue, lips, and airflow work together. With clear 3D animations from both frontal and side views, children can see what’s happening inside the mouth—something mirrors and verbal cues just can’t fully explain. It’s a game-changer for sounds like /r/, /l/, /sh/, and many others. By giving kids a reliable visual model, DARA® takes the guesswork out of speech therapy and helps them understand how to make each sound correctly.

Consistent Model

On-demand, consistent animations in clinic sessions and for home practice

One of the biggest challenges in speech therapy is making sure children get the same support across settings. With DARA®, the same high-quality visual model is available anytime—whether you’re in a therapy session or sending home practice materials. It’s always there, always consistent. This helps children build and reinforce the right motor patterns for speech sounds without confusion. When the visuals, words, and techniques match across clinic and home, it’s easier for progress to stick.

Empower Parents

Support articulation goals confidently and correctly at home

Parents often want to help with speech practice but aren’t always sure how to do it. DARA® gives families a simple way to see how each speech sound is made, so they can feel more confident supporting their child at home. When paired with our printable activities and therapy games, it becomes a full toolkit for home practice that actually matches what’s being taught in sessions. Whether your child is 2, 3, or 4 years old, or just needs extra help with certain sounds, DARA® makes practice clear, engaging, and effective.

x7 Accent Models

Meet the needs of your caseload in their own accent

DARA® was built with real-world diversity in mind. It includes seven English accents—American, British, Australian, Irish, Canadian, New Zealand, and South African—so kids can learn speech sounds the way they actually hear them in everyday life. This makes a big difference when working with children from different backgrounds. Whether you’re in a clinic, school, or working online, DARA® helps you deliver accurate, accent-appropriate models that support clear speech development for every child on your caseload.

Speech Sound Disorders (SSD) Overview

Speech Sound Disorders are categorized by difficulties with the production, perception, or organization of speech sounds. Subtypes include:

  • Phonological Delay: Patterns typical in younger children persist beyond expected ages.
  • Consistent Phonological Disorder: Non-developmental error patterns consistently applied.
  • Inconsistent Phonological Disorder: Unpredictable speech errors.
  • Articulation Disorders: Physical difficulty producing specific sounds.

Phonological processes
refer to the predictable patterns of sound errors that young children use to simplify speech as they are developing their language abilities. For some children, these patterns persist longer than expected, leading to speech sound disorders (SSD).

Assessment of SSD

Speech-Language Pathologists utilize various methods to evaluate phonological processes, including:

  • Speech Sample Analysis: Examining a child’s natural speech to identify pronunciation patterns.
  • Phonological Processes Chart: Assessing errors by comparing them to typical developmental milestones.
  • Standardized Tests: Instruments like the DEAP, CAAP-2, or HAPP-3 measure the type and severity of speech sound disorders.
  • Parental Input: Gaining valuable insights from caregivers about the child’s communication in daily interactions.

Our speech therapy app revolutionizes the evaluation of phonological processes with advanced tools designed specifically for Speech-Language Pathologists. This cutting-edge speech therapy app streamlines assessments, enhances collaboration, and simplifies report writing, saving time and reducing paperwork. Ideal for modern therapy practices

Treatment of SSD

Phonological process treatment is customized to address the child’s unique needs and type of speech sound disorder. Common strategies include:

  • Minimal Pair Therapy: Using word pairs that differ by one sound (e.g., “pat” vs. “bat”) to highlight the importance of precise sound production.
  • Multiple Oppositions: Addressing multiple errors at once by targeting phoneme collapses (e.g., teaching “tea,” “key,” and “sea” if all are pronounced as “dee”) to boost overall intelligibility.
  • Complexity Approaches: Targeting advanced sounds (e.g., /r/ or /spl/) to encourage broader improvements in simpler sounds, optimizing therapy outcomes.

Treatment for articulation disorders is personalized to meet each child’s unique speech sound needs and target specific difficulties. Common strategies include:

  • Articulation Therapy: Treatment for articulation disorders focuses on improving the physical production of specific sounds. Techniques often begin with practicing individual sounds, then progressing to syllables, words, and connected speech. Approaches may include traditional articulation therapy, which emphasizes motor practice, or newer methods like Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), which incorporate motor learning principles. Therapy is tailored to address each child’s needs, targeting sounds that are non-stimulable or distorted.

DARA® is a powerful 3D animated avatar that brings speech sounds to life, helping children with phonological and articulation disorders see exactly how each sound is made. With frontal and lateral views and accent-specific modeling across seven English-speaking accents, DARA® gives SLPs a precise, visual way to teach articulation. It supports carryover between sessions, boosts parent confidence at home, and ensures every child gets a clear, consistent model tailored to their needs.
